Visit of a High-Level Delegation from COSCO Shipping Line to Damietta Container Terminal to Enhance Cooperation
On Monday, September 9, 2024, DCHC (Damietta Container & Cargo Handling Co.) received a high-level delegation from COSCO SHIPPING Lines, one of the world’s largest shipping companies. The visit aimed to strengthen cooperation between both parties and aligned with the directives of His Excellency Lieutenant General Kamel Al-Wazir - Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport. These directives focus on developing Egypt’s national container terminals and expanding their market share through strategic marketing efforts, all in line with the vision to position Egypt as a global hub for trade and logistics.
The delegation included Mr. Fan Jue - Managing Director of COSCO SHIPPING Lines Egypt, and Mr. Ramy Elshamy - Operations Manager of COSCO SHIPPING Lines Egypt. They were welcomed by Admiral Dr. Rafik Galal - Executive Managing Director of DCHC (Damietta Container & Cargo Handling Co.), who welcomed the delegation and affirmed its full support for all shipping lines, including the shipping line COSCO SHIPPING Lines, and reviewed the company's capabilities and development plans that have been implemented recently, including the addition of new berths and storage spaces, as well as advanced technologies to improve the efficiency of operations, and all their inquiries were answered.
The delegation was given a comprehensive field tour of DCHC’s facilities, including the berths, yards, and the L.C.L. container warehouse. They also visited the new car storage facility and the refrigerator yard, which offers pre-cooling services for outgoing goods and storage for incoming goods. The COSCO representatives expressed their admiration for these developments and the terminal’s capacity to accommodate COSCO SHIPPING Lines vessels, indicating strong potential for future collaboration.
The Executive Managing Director of DCHC (Damietta Container & Cargo Handling Co.) stated that the terminal continues to implement significant investments to provide world-class services to both global shipping lines and Egyptian exporters and importers. These efforts, he emphasized, are crucial to solidifying Egypt’s status as a global and regional center for maritime transport, logistics, and transit trade, especially amid current regional and global economic and geopolitical challenges.
