Damietta Container Terminal Enhances Strategic Partnership with SeaLead Shipping Line by Launching Two New Services

As part of the directives of His Excellency Vice Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, General Kamel El-Wazir, to enhance the performance of national container terminals and expand their market share by attracting new shipping lines, DCHC (Damietta Container & Cargo Handling Co.) has announced the addition of two new services in collaboration with the SeaLead shipping line. Admiral Dr. Rafik Galal - Executive Managing Director of Damietta Container & Cargo Handling Company, stated that SeaLead is a key partner of Damietta Container Terminal. He further explained that the partnership has resulted in the launch of two new services: the MGX service and the WARM service. Both services will operate regularly, connecting East Asia, the Arabian Gulf, and Mediterranean ports through Damietta Port and the Suez Canal. The new services are as follows: • MGX Service: Connects Jebel Ali Port (UAE), Djibouti Port (Djibouti), Damietta Port (Egypt), and Aliaga Port (Turkey). • WARM Service: Links Indian ports (Mundra Port and Nhava Sheva Port) and Turkish ports (Aliaga, Istanbul, and Mersin) via Damietta Container Terminal (Egypt). These services will enable SeaLead to seamlessly access feeder networks in the Middle East and the Mediterranean region, improving cargo flow while reducing transportation costs and transit times. Additionally, they will enhance trade integration between key ports at Damietta Container Terminal and Turkish container terminals. Both services are scheduled to call at Damietta Container Terminal on a weekly basis, with the inaugural WARM service voyage set to commence on November 29, 2024, via the vessel Bertile. This milestone reflects the readiness of Damietta Container Terminal to compete as one of the most robust container handling facilities in the Mediterranean region. Operational indicators, such as the weekly frequency of the new services and the added capacity, affirm the terminal's role as a key regional hub. This aligns with Egypt's strategic vision of becoming a regional hub for transit trade, logistics, and maritime transport.
