Container ship HYUNDAI NEW YORK on its first visit to DCHC ||Sep 2020


Damietta Container & Cargo Handling Co. (DCHC) received the HYUNDAI NEW YORK container ship of the Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) on its first voyage to Damietta Port coming from the Italian port of Genoa, Where the ship anchored on the container berth no. (1). was handled with 3 giant quay cranes. The dimensions of the HYUNDAI NEW YORK vessel are 293 meters long and 40 meters wide, the draft is 13 meters, and its maximum load is 12,000 TEUs. The ship’s crew was received and welcomed on their first visit to the Damietta Container Terminal, and the agent operating the HYUNDAI shipping line in Egypt was also welcomed, the KADMAR agency, who expressed his admiration and thanks for the good reception of their first trips at Damietta Container Terminal and affirmed the continuation and increase of cooperation with Damietta Container Handling Company in the next stage. It is worth noting that the Damietta Container and Cargo Handling Company is currently implementing a giant project to consolidate and deepen the container berths so that it can receive giant container ships that are in service, with a draft of 16.5 meters and a load of more than 20 thousand TEUs, and the station has begun to apply the modern information system NAVIS N4 to manage and operate the container terminal electronically, which reflects positively on the performance rates and efficiency of the terminal, thus confirming its readiness to compete as the strongest ports in the eastern Mediterranean region.
