Damietta Container and Cargo Handling Co. handles one million and 230 thousand TEU in 2022 ||Jan 2023


Admiral / Alaa Mohamed Ibrahim Ahmed - Executive Managing Director of DCHC in Damietta Port stated that 1,229,500 TEUs were handled during the year 2022, compared to 1,082,991 TEUs handled in the last year 2021, with an increase of 14%, and the company continues to be in the million-container club. Where the number of one million containers was previously achieved in the years 2008, 2009, 2010, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021. His Excellency stated stated the increase from the previous year is a result of the completion of a giant project, which is to rehabilitate the container berths and increase the alongside depths to 17 meters to receive the largest container vessels in the market now, as well as easing the closure restrictions on some services and activities as a result of the reducing effects of the global epidemic (covid- 19) and its effects on the volume of foreign trade.
